Ashley Brate, Immunology graduate student under Dr. Nitin Karandikar, Professor of Pathology, University of Iowa, won a podium presentation and travel award for the AAI meeting in San Diego, CA. She presented her research evaluating the therapeutic potential of autoregulatory CD8 T cells in suppressing relapsing-remitting autoimmune demyelinating disease, a disease course most commonly experienced among MS patients.

Samantha Freedman, Immunology graduate student under Dr. Ashutosh Mangalam, Assistant Professor of Pathology, University of Iowa, won a podium presentation and a travel award for the AAI meeting in San Diego, CA.  She presented her talk and research poster titled “Linking diet, gut microbiota and autoimmunity: A phytoestrogen diet alters the gut microbiota and influences Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis (EAE).”
