Regulation of Nlrp3 inflammasome activation by FcγR

The inflammasome is a multiprotein complex that serves as a platform for the activation of caspase-1. Upon activation, caspase-1 cleaves IL-1β into its biologically active and secreted form. Inflammasome activation is tightly controlled, and requires two signals for activation. Signal one involves the activation of the transcription factor NF-κB. The c-type lectin dectin-2 can activate NF-κB and is required for inflammasome activation in response to Candida albicans challenge. FcRγ is the signaling component of dectin-2 and FcγR. My project currently focuses on how FcγR signaling modulates inflammasome activation.
