Research Interests
My research examines the role of dendritic cells (DC) in the lungs following influenza virus infections. DC are known to be required in the lymph nodes to initiate programmed activation, proliferation and differentiation of virus-specific CD8 T cells. However, DC are continually recruited to the lungs following influenza virus infection, but their role in the regulation of innate and adaptive immune responses therein remains unknown. Our lab determined a novel role for DC in the lungs in promoting influenza virus specific CD8 T cell immunity through direct MHC I dependent interactions. My research continues to examine the mechanism behind pulmonary DC mediated regulation of adaptive CD8 T cell responses in the lungs.
