The University of Iowa
Interdisciplinary Summer Undergraduate Research Program

The Interdisciplinary Summer Undergraduate Research Program is designed to allow students to pursue broad research interests in modern biomedical research areas, which they may not have opportunities to pursue extensively in undergraduate coursework. This unique program provides research opportunities in the laboratories of faculty who belong to the graduate programs in Genetics, Immunology, Molecular & Cellular Biology and Neuroscience. The interdisciplinary nature of the program transcends traditional discipline-specific boundaries to provide an exciting research training experience. This ten week summer program is open to US citizens or permanent residents in their sophomore or junior years of college. The Immunology Summer Program has three positions supported by the NIH Training Program in Immunology (NIAID, T32 AI007485). Please apply through the Interdisciplinary Summer Undergraduate Research Program and specify Immunology.

The 2010 program will begin May 24 and end on July 30 (10-week program). Departures from this schedule can be considered in special circumstances. Participants are expected to devote their full time to the program during its duration. Each student participant will receive a stipend of $3,750 for the ten-week session. In addition, housing in University of Iowa dormitories will be provided (~$1,800 value). An additional award of up to $500 for travel to and from Iowa City will also be available.
